Looking for: Barite “Piper” Morris

Adopted to Traverse City, Michigan/Suttons Bay, Michigan in August 2014 from Ethiopia with her younger biological brother, Begidu.

The adoptive parents, Consuela “Connie” & Jack Morris reported having “rehomed” her in early 2019. It is unknown how she was rehomed or who she was given to.

Barite is now over the age of 18 as she was 7 years old in October 2014.

Why are we searching for Barite?

Barite’s younger biological brother Begidu, who remained with the Morris Family, was determined by Florida Department of Children & Families to have been neglected and subsequently died after being hospitalized while living with the Morris Family in 2022.

You can read the official Child Fatality Report of Begidu “Josiah” Morris’ which describes his home situation, injuries and death here.

The Child Protection Team noted bruising to the child's head and significant scarring to his buttocks consistent with a burn injury with a patterned object (resembling a chain link fence); child had not seen a medical provider in three years and he weighed only 44 pounds. Verified findings for death, bizarre punishment, internal injuries, physical injury, medical neglect, failure to thrive/malnutrition/dehydration, failure to protect, and inadequate supervision.

Within this report, a reference to Barite is as follows:

Information obtained during the investigation reflects that the child was adopted from Ethiopia by this family, along with a biological sister, when he was approximately 2-years old. Of note, his biological sibling was re-adopted/adopted by another family in early 2019. That child resides in another state and has no contact with the decedent's family.

Any additional information about this family, the adoption and the children is available on the More Info page of this website.
